Spending Time at the Dentist – and Liking it!

Magnolia Dentist Dr. Preston Cutbirth

Dr. Preston Cutbirth

Dr. Cutbirth grew up in Magnolia and graduated from Magnolia High School in 1976. As a child from the ’60’s a mouthful of cavities left him with a surprisingly good relationship with his dentist! “I felt like I grew up in his office and had fun joking around and getting to know the dentist. I hadn’t considered it as a profession, however, until I found myself without a job at age 25. A chance to re-evaluate my life and find God’s plan for me led me to take a personality test to find out what I wanted to do. Dentistry was at the top of the list so after I talked to my dentist and a friend at church who was in dental school I decided to go back to college and prepare to apply for admission to dental school. Fortunately, I was accepted into the dental program at The University of Texas Dental School in Houston in 1985.”

Learning to Provide Patient-centered Dentistry

Dr. Cutbirth was an expert at being a dental patient so it made him a very compassionate dental student at the University of Texas Dental School in Houston. He graduated in 1990 and moved back to Magnolia with his wife Elizabeth to open a dental practice.

Family and faith are paramount to Dr. Cutbirth and the driving force of treating patients with dignity and respect and providing exceptional dental care in a very positive, professional office environment.Read more…

Living a Family-oriented Life

Dr. Cutbirth and Elizabeth have three children. They’re big Baylor University fans, where their older son Steven attended school. He and his wife Kelly now have a family of their own that includes their newest grandbaby, Clara. Their middle daughter, Elizabeth Anne, is attending dental school and their youngest son, Robert, is attending Baylor University like his big brother. “Sic “em Bears”

Dr. Cutbirth enjoys spending time with Dr. Sanderson, who is his closest friend and golf buddy. The Cutbirth and Sanderson families get together as often as possible since becoming friends. Dr. Cutbirth and his family have attended First Baptist Church of Magnolia since moving back to Magnolia in 1990.

Growing up Around Dentistry

Magnolia Dentist Dr. Jonathan Sanderson

Dr. Jonathan Sanderson

My mom was the office manager in a dental office for 20 years. I grew up in the practice, seeing what the dentist did. I liked meeting new people and working with my hands, and knew dentistry was something I would enjoy.

Finding the Right Opportunity

Dr. Sanderson hails from New Caney, Texas. He completed his undergraduate work at Sam Houston State University where he attended on a baseball scholarship. He then continued on to the University of Texas at San Antonio Dental School. He graduated in 1998. Dr. Sanderson served in the United States Air Force afterward, doing a one-year residency at Eglin Air Force Base followed by two years at Pope Air Force Base before settling down in Tomball.

Dr. Sanderson joined Dr. Cutbirth in practice in 2001, and the Sandersons formed a friendship with the Cutbirth family. Dr. Sanderson’s practice philosophy of putting patient first was inspired by Preston and Elizabeth Cutbirth. “Our friendly team places a high priority on patient satisfaction. We are accountable at all times. Our patients are also our neighbors, and it’s important that we build good, solid relationship on every level.”Read more…

Deciding on the Dental Path

After graduating from Houston Baptist University in 2007, Dr. Copeland knew he wanted to pursue a career in healthcare; still, he was unsure exactly what profession that would lead to. Around the same time, his grandfather was diagnosed with myelodysplasia and began treatment at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Copeland accompanied his grandfather to appointments and was impressed with how the staff helped his family navigate through an event that required serious decisions. He soon got a job working in the epidemiology department, where the goal was to identify groups at risk for developing oral cancer and establish prevention protocols. ‘’We were trying to find the root of a problem before it became serious. I learned how to work with patients during a difficult time, and the dentists there were amazing. It was about more than smiles. It was preparing people for treatment and helping them through a life-changing occurrence.”

Providing Excellent Comprehensive Dental Care

Dr. Copeland’s time at MD Anderson Cancer Center helped him discover a career he was passionate about and he decided to attend the University of Texas School of Dentistry in Houston. “The choice was easy because the dental program in Houston has a state of the art facility as well as established relationships in the Texas Medical Center that foster a collaborative spirit between doctors and dentists.” Read more…

He continued on his path of disease prevention and detection there, taking elective coursework in oral medical examination. This philosophy has carried over into Dr. Copeland’s patient care at Cutbirth & Sanderson General Dentistry, with extremely thorough evaluations being a part of each visit.

‘’I like getting to know patients, understanding what’s important to them and taking great care of them. I want to try to make each person happy, meeting them where they are in their lives.”

Giving Back and Staying Busy

As a member of the American Dental Association and the Texas Dental Association, Dr. Copeland stays up to date with the latest in dentistry. He has been involved with Give Vets a Smile and Give Kids a Smile®, providing underserved children and veterans with high-quality oral health care.

Outside of Cutbirth & Sanderson General Dentistry, Dr. Copeland and his wife Dorothy keep busy with their sons, Cullen & Carter. They’re both from Waller, just down the road from Magnolia.

“I fell in love with the intricacies of dentistry and how gratifying it is to form relationships with patients.”

A Passion for Helping Patients

Dr. Mohr attended Texas A&M where she earned her bachelor’s degree in 2002 and then went on to study dentistry at the University of Texas, School of Dentistry at Houston. First-Hand Experience

Dr. Courtney Kleiber

Dr. Kleiber initially became interested in dentistry when she had her wisdom teeth removed. After the surgery, she decided to spend some time in a few dental offices shadowing local dentists. It was then that she realized how vital oral health is to systemic health and how important patient education is. For this reason, Dr. Kleiber seeks to understand patients’ dental concerns in hopes of providing meaningful answers to help overcome whatever may be preventing optimal oral health. Dr. Kleiber really enjoyed experiencing how life changing dentistry can be for each patient and couldn’t wait to be a part of the profession.

A Love of Learning

Dr. Kleiber attended Texas A&M University graduating Summa Cum Laude and continued her studies at the University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston graduating with Omicron Kappa Upsilon honors. Throughout her studies, she became passionate about continual learning and advancements in dentistry which is why she stays active as a member of the American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, Greater Houston Dental Society, and American Academy of General Dentistry.

Small Town Roots

Dr. Kleiber was born and raised in La Grange, TX where her family owns a New Holland tractor dealership. Her family’s farm and working at the tractor dealership kept her busy as a young girl. Her favorite thing to do was feed the cows with her grandpa. She loves the outdoors and countryside, so it’s no surprise her small town roots brought her to Magnolia to practice dentistry.

Currently, Dr. Kleiber enjoys staying active by biking, working out, watersports, and scuba diving. She has completed the MS150 bike ride, ran a half marathon, and explored the Great Barrier Reef scuba diving! She also has a dog, Benny. Benny has tons of energy and can be a handful, but she wouldn’t have it any other way.
